Fractional CCO

A fractional chief commercial officer for deeptech

I take breakthrough science to its first industry partners, as a part-time commercial lead for companies that need the work done before they can hire for it.

Who this is for

Deeptech founders and boards at seed to Series A. Spin-outs from KTH and other universities. Companies with EIC funding, including the EIC Accelerator, that now have to show commercial traction.

Typically a strong technology, a small team, and no one yet who owns the road from the lab to a paying industry partner.

Where deeptech companies lose deals

Most deeptech ventures lose deals they should have won. The proposals, executive summaries and presentations are written in the language of the lab. The market expects a funded commercial venture to arrive like one.

When it does not, the market moves on quietly. No rejection, no feedback, just silence. That gap is commercial, and it can be closed.

What I do

Translate science into a commercial case

Materials rebuilt from the ground up, from lab language to something a procurement lead or an innovation head can say yes to.

Go-to-market and the first partnerships

The partnerships that prove a market: joint development agreements, off-take and licensing, with the right people at the right companies.

Map the buyers and build the pipeline

What shortens the cycle is rarely the technology. It is the people who have to say yes. I map them early: who decides, what each person values, and who can block. Then a working CRM and an outreach system, so every conversation is followed up.

Make the company ready for investors

A commercial story, a pipeline and a process that an investor can inspect. A commercial leader driving traction helps the raise.

Proof

  • Two KTH spin-offs that went from first contact to commercial commitment in under three months, against a typical two years or more.
  • Fractional CCO at Reselo (birch-bark biopolymer, a Wallenberg Wood Science Center and KTH spin-off and EIC Accelerator company): joint development agreements with Fortune 500 and tier-1 leaders in automotive, tyres and sportswear, including Scania, Nokian Tyres and Adidas, across Europe, APAC and North America. The first was signed in about three weeks.
  • Urban Oasis (the Nordics' first large-scale vertical farm): the full production sold within about 90 days, and the traction behind a joint-venture exit with Svegro, Sweden's largest industrial grower.
  • Twenty years as a commercial operator and 15+ ventures. Since May 2026, selected commercial expert in the EIC Tech to Market programme (EISMEA), supporting EIC-backed deeptech researchers and innovators on translating science into a commercial case.

How we work together

I suggest a first period of four weeks with a clear scope and a price, so you can judge the value before you commit to more. After that, a launch program of 8 to 12 weeks for seed stage, an embedded operator for Series A, or ongoing advisory.

The scope is fixed and the fee is a monthly retainer. For ventures short of cash, equity-blended structures are possible.

A quick way to start: your own AI agent

Often it starts with two hours in which I set up your own AI agent. It gives real time back in the first week, and it shows how I work before we talk about anything larger. From there, the commercial work grows out of what we find. The setup has its own home at egenaiagent.se.

Questions

What is a fractional CCO?

A chief commercial officer who works for your company part-time, on a defined scope, instead of full-time. You get senior commercial leadership while the company is too early or too lean for a full-time hire.

How is this different from hiring a full-time CCO?

The cost and the commitment are smaller, and the work is scoped. I build the commercial foundation and the first partnerships, and hand it over when you are ready to hire a team for it, usually around Series A.

Do you work outside Sweden?

Yes. I work with companies in Sweden, the UK, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark and Spain, in person and remotely.

Do you work with EIC Accelerator companies?

Yes. I led the commercialisation of Reselo, an EIC Accelerator company, and I am a selected commercial expert in the EIC Tech to Market programme, where I support EIC-backed deeptech researchers and innovators on the commercial side: the market, the buyers and the first partnerships. That commercial case is what the Accelerator and the investor conversations after it rest on.

How do we start?

Write to me with a few lines about the company and the stage. We talk, and if it fits I propose a four-week start with a clear scope and a price.
